Last Chance to Nominate a Colleague

The deadline to submit an award nomination for the DuPage CVB's Annual Awards Program has been extended to Monday, August 10. Download a nomination form and take a moment to nominate a colleague whose efforts in the hospitality industry have been exceptional. Winners will be recognized at the Bureau’s Annual Meeting on October 2nd.

Over the next month, two major golf tournaments are taking place in our own backyards! Book your hotel rooms in DuPage for either event.

August 17-23: Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove will host the LPGA Solheim Cup. This tournament is the most prestigious team event in women's professional golf. The biennial, trans-Atlantic event pits the United States against Europe for three days of grueling matchplay competition.

BMW ChampionshipSeptember 7-13: The 2009 BMW Championship returns to Cog Hill Golf & Country Club in Lemont. The top 70 players in the world will be competing in this third Playoff event in the PGA TOUR’s FedEx Cup and the ultimate prize of $10 million.

Sales Team Spotlight

All of us at the DuPage CVB would like to recognize and thank Shawne Washington, Sales & Services Coordinator, for her hard work and dedication over the past six years. We wish her and her family much happiness and success as they begin a new chapter in their lives in San Jose, California. 

Our new Sales & Services Coordinator, Krisilee Rothaug, is on board full-time as of August 4. She is a recent graduate of Western Illinois University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation, Park and Tourism Administration. She has just completed an internship with the City of Elgin and the Elgin Area Convention & Visitors Bureau. Please join us in welcoming Krisilee Rothaug to our team!

Two DuPage CVB members were mentioned in the Crain’s Chicago Business List of Chicago's Top Sightseeing Attractions for 2009. Congratulations to Brookfield Zoo and The Morton Arboretum, who ranked #6 and #8 on the top-ten list respectively.

The Naper Settlement Marketing Communications Department recently received the Publicity Club of Chicago’s prestigious Golden Trumpet Award for the 2009 issue of Treasures Magazine. The publication chronicled the 40th Anniversary of the Naperville Heritage Society. The award honors individual achievement of public relations and communications. Congratulations!

In July, Parkers’ Ocean Grill became Parkers’ Restaurant and Bar. The restaurant is offering a newly-expanded menu.

Effective August 1st, My Chauffeur Limousine is now known as Carey Limousine.

Now a rising star on the PGA Tour, Streelman will conduct a complimentary session targeting junior golfers at the Cantigny Golf Academy on Friday, August 7. The second-year PGA Tour member and Wheaton native will speak about his journey from Illinois junior golf to the PGA Tour and answer questions from the kids.
