The Bensenville Park District will celebrate the dawn of a new era in local youth soccer with the inaugural Bville Mother’s Day Soccer Tournament, set for Saturday–Sunday, May 9–10, at Sunrise Park in Bensenville. This inaugural event will be the first of many soccer activities at the Sunrise Soccer Field as part of a comprehensive year-round community soccer program.
The recreational, development-focused tournament is designed to emphasize fun, sportsmanship and community play while welcoming youth teams from across the area. The weekend will begin with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and grand opening celebration for the park’s new soccer facility on the morning of May 9.
“This tournament is all about creating a positive, welcoming environment where young athletes can grow their skills and enjoy the game,” Tournament Co-Director Ty Beshiri said. “We’re excited to showcase Sunrise Park and bring families together for a memorable Mother’s Day weekend.”
The tournament will feature four age divisions: Grades 1-2 (U8), Grades 3-4 (U10), Grades 5-6 (U12) and Grades 7-8 (U14). Each team is guaranteed a minimum of three games over the two-day event.
Game formats are tailored by age group. U8 teams will play 4v4 or 5v5 festival-style games with no standings. U10 teams will compete in 7v7 round-robin play, while U12 teams will play 9v9 round-robin games with optional finals. U14 teams will compete in an 11v11 championship format. Match lengths range from two 15-minute halves for the youngest division to two 30-minute halves for U14.
Tournament play will follow FIFA rules with age-appropriate modifications. Slide tackling is prohibited at all ages, and heading is not permitted for grades 1-6. The event also maintains a zero-tolerance policy for misconduct and allows unlimited substitutions at stoppages.
Teams will play two games on Saturday and at least one game Sunday, depending on bracket format. Participation medals and Panini World Cup 2026 albums will be awarded to the youngest players, while first- and second-place awards will be presented in older divisions. A sportsmanship award may also be presented.
