Andy Warhol was one of the most iconic artists of the 20th century. During the summer of 2023, the Cleve Carney Museum of Art in Glen Ellyn will display an important exhibit, Andy Warhol Portfolios: A Life in Pop. In conjunction with that display, the Elmhurst Artists' Guild will exhibit local art inspired by the work of Andy Warhol.
Andy Warhol’s large body of work focused on six themes: celebrity, consumerism, money, death and dying, identity, and animals. He is best known for his distinctive style, his image, and his tremendous voice in pop culture and the art world. The Elmhurst Artists’ Guild is looking to exhibit artworks that somehow reference Warhol’s work while also honoring each artist’s own aesthetic.
This opportunity is open to both Elmhurst Artists’ Guild members and non-members. Artists are invited to create and submit up to two original artworks for exhibit consideration. Based on a review of the digital images and associated essays submitted, 54 pieces will be chosen by a jury panel to be displayed in the gallery.
