Overview
The Morton Arboretum Photographic Society (MAPS) is a non-competitive, volunteer-led camera club dedicated to celebrating the art of nature photography. MAPS welcomes people of all ages and backgrounds with beginner to advanced skill levels in photography. Monthly programs, outings, and workshops nurture, inspire, and engage members to create pictures. We enjoy shooting various kinds of pictures, but we share a common interest in nature photography—it’s our primary focus! The Morton Arboretum in Lisle, Illinois is the club’s muse. Members don’t have to belong to The Morton Arboretum, but it is encouraged.
MAPS offers the following opportunities to help satisfy all your photography needs:
• Meetings are held on the 2nd Monday of each month starting at 7:00 pm in the Arbor Room at the Thornhill Education Center in The Morton Arboretum. Members can attend in person or via Zoom.
- Each month features a special guest presentation on photography. See our website for details.
- In the hour before the monthly meetings begin, members can gather to socialize and discuss photographic interests such as landscapes, flowers, birds, or mobile phone photography with others who share that interest.
• Nature-themed exhibits let members showcase their images and sell their work, if they wish. Each exhibit launches with a reception for the artists, their family, and friends.
• Monthly outings help members to interact with each other by sharing ideas and collaborating while photographing natural beauty at various locations.
• Photo workshops are scheduled every month and are usually led by MAPS members. Participants learn new techniques and how-to tips.
