Take pleasure in an urban escape that will connect your senses through arts, culture, beautiful landscape, quaint downtowns, learning institutions, conservation and preservation.

DuPage is rich in history and culture. We honor the notable people that have graced us in the past, such as Robert McCormick (Chicago Tribune owner and publisher), Joy Morton (Morton Salt), Ivan Albright (painter/artist), Muddy Waters (Father of Modern Chicago Blues), Ludwig Mies van der Rohe (architect), Ray Kroc (McDonalds), and Reverend Billy Graham (American evangelist), to name a few; and to the many who remain nameless as they walked through DuPage County and paved their way to freedom through the Underground Railroad. Our history reverberates through our culture as our communities continue to be vibrant and committed to the values on which DuPage County was built.

With numerous Fortune 500 companies headquartered in DuPage, the county is an economic force in Chicagoland. We boast the best school systems from pre-school to high school and our 19 colleges and universities are top notch for higher education. Our medical systems help foster one of the healthiest environments in the nation, with partnerships driving greater opportunities in preventive care and wellness.

For these reasons and others, DuPage continues to be ranked high as one of the best places to live, visit and do business.

Not to be forgotten is DuPage’s place in the gastronomic world. We are proud of our local fare, as DuPage is home to Illinois’ first winery, Lynfred Winery, the acclaimed Two Brothers Artisan Brewing among other craft breweries, and a galore of fine dining options. With everything from the famed Portillo’s Chicago-style hot dog to upscale international cuisine, your dining experience will not disappoint.

In DuPage, we embrace all four seasons, as each presents a fresh experience. We enjoy our outdoors, as winter brings us activities from snowshoeing to ice fishing; and our main streets are adorned with twinkling lights and holiday walks that create joy, laughter and memories year after year. Our spring welcomes new life in nature, providing endless opportunities to grab your binoculars and go for a hike. Summer brings music to our ears with street festivals and our skies explode with vibrant colors as we celebrate Independence Day from one community to the next. We are spoiled with bright colors of the fall season as we explore our waterways and trails.

Season to season, DuPage County’s award-winning forest preserves, the Illinois Prairie Path, and local treasures such as The Morton Arboretum and Cantigny Park offer beautiful backdrops. We welcome you to explore the healthiest county in Illinois, and to find your place of balance and serenity. Happiness and health come in many forms, whether through feeding the mind, challenging the body, or nourishing the soul.
