There is a crown to be won, and the race to secure it begins July 19.
Join us in the excitement — whether you're cheering curbside or competing on the course.
The Best of Championship Cycling
Hundreds will participate. At the end, five will stand alone as Triple Crown champions.
A championship event within a major cycling series is the easiest way to describe the DuPage Triple Crown. It all starts with Chicago Grit — one of the most respected cycling events in the United States. 10 continuous days of racing take place in different Chicagoland communities, three of which are criterium races in DuPage County:
-
Tour of Lake Ellyn
July 19, Village of Glen Ellyn
-
Winfield Criterium & Summerfest
July 20, Village of Winfield
-
Lombard Cycling Classic
July 22, Village of Lombard
Glen Ellyn. Winfield. Lombard. Three DuPage communities. Three electric race days. One thrilling Triple Crown.
Within the Chicago Grit series, the DuPage Triple Crown will be its own omnium — a multi-day competition format — spanning five race categories. The leaders in each category after Glen Ellyn, Winfield, and Lombard will each earn a DuPage Triple Crown jersey.
Final scoring will determine five champions — awarded at the Lombard Cycling Classic, with a cash prize and bragging rights as some of the fiercest racers in the field.
The Best of Summer in Charming DuPage County
While we may be bias, we recommend carving out extra time to spend in Glen Ellyn, Winfield and Lombard, each offering their own community character. Few destinations elsewhere boast the small-town charm yet urban sophistication of DuPage County. Glen Ellyn was named Illinois' choice in USA Today's feature, Picturesque Small Towns in Every State! Winfield, focused on development for resident and visitor enjoyment, puts major emphasis on the Winfield Criterium & Summerfest and is ready to showcase its warm and welcoming community to visitors. Whether you’re looking to sample craft beer, power shop at the expansive Yorktown Center, or have a little family fun, Lombard delivers.
Each stop is a festival atmosphere — with food, music, vendors, and plenty of spots to catch the action. Bring the family, bring a chair, and bring your cowbell!
