Another win for DuPage County with two events leading to the Olympics.
WESTMONT, IL — The first stop on the road to the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary starts in DuPage County. USA Swimming will be coming to Westmont, IL to host the 2022 TYR Pro Swim Series taking place March 2-5 at FMC Natatorium at Ty Warner Park. This event is being held by the official national organization that selects and trains athletes for international competitions including the Olympics, and hosted by the DuPage Sports Commission (DSC).
In partnership with the Village of Westmont, FMC Natatorium, and DSC, DuPage County will welcome up to 400 swimmers, their families, and spectators for 28 swim events over four days. Live coverage of the Westmont swim series will be streamed on the Olympic channel. An event of this caliber provides DuPage significant media exposure in addition to the economic return from hundreds of domestic and international visitors.
This meet will be a qualifier for athletes to compete at the Phillips 66 International Team Trials, which will take place April 26-30 in Greensboro, North Carolina and decide the U.S. rosters for the 2022 FINA World Championships in Hungary.
“I would like to thank Maryann Kaufman and their team at FMC Natatorium for moving so quickly on this opportunity,” said Westmont Mayor Ron Gunter. “Additionally, thanks to Beth Marchetti and the DuPage Convention & Visitors Bureau for their hard work behind the scenes to help make this happen. This outcome demonstrates the value we receive by being partnered with the DCVB and other groups that support local tourism. Along with the Midwest trials for the U.S. Luge Team, Westmont is now host to two events that lead to the Olympics.”
Some of the fastest swimmers in the world will be competing in the Westmont series. The event is open to the public, with tickets available online at www.fmcnatatorium.org/tyrpro.
