In the timeless words of Shakespeare, "What's in a name?" Naming a business is both an art and a science, blending creativity with strategic thinking. One must carefully think of something that's catchy and will stick for years to come. Oftentimes, it comes from a family name, a memory, or something unique to the establishment. When the name is well-chosen, it creates an instant connection.

Harry Caray was the legendary radio and television sportscaster, most known by Chicagoans for his work with the Chicago White Sox and the Chicago Cubs. His “tell-it-like-it-is” style of broadcasting became as synonymous with Chicago baseball fans as the ivy that covers the center field wall at Wrigley Field. The veteran play-by-play announcer was perhaps best recognized for his tradition of singing “Take Me Out To The Ball Game” during the seventh inning stretch and for his famous exclamations: “It might be, it could be, it is! A home run!”; “Holy Cow!”; and of course, "Holy Mackerel!"

Harry Caray's Restuarant Group began when the first Harry Caray's Italian Steakhouse opened in 1987 to celebrate the Hall of Fame broadcaster and his love for Chicago sports, great food and drink, and most of all—the fans. From there, they opened up several locations around the Chicagoland area, with two being in Lombard: Holy Mackerel! and Harry Caray's Italian Steakhouse.

Step into Holy Mackerel! and journey back to a simpler time.
